My school placement is at IES Domenico Scarlatti in Aranjuez. I will be assisting with English not only in English class, but in Art, Technology, and PE as well. The grade levels range from 1st ESO to 2nd Bachillerato, which includes approximate ages of 12-18. My schedules alternate each week, so while there are some familiar groups I see a couple times a week, some groups I will only see once every fortnight.
Aranjuez is the very last stop on the C3 train, meaning it takes me about an hour and a half to get to my school from my apartment in the center. I knew this trek would be daunting, but I went along with it because I knew so little about Aranjuez or what it would be like to live closer to it. Turns out is a very charming and peaceful town, and I really am enjoying getting to know the students and the teachers. While I wish the commute wasn’t so long, I have learned to make the most of the time on the train. Sometimes I nap, work on assignments, read, or just listen to music and enjoy the scenery. All in all, I am very happy with my placement.
